We are now 2 months into the new year, and I know many people have already given up on their goals or resolutions. I still think you can turn the year around despite your early so-called failures and improve your life.
When quarantine first happened in 2020, I was a bit relieved because I needed a break from everything. When I got that break, I got bored very fast. A few months in, I decided to start working on myself and quarantine a whole new person. It’s never too late.
I have to say, it is not easy to work on yourself and improve in all aspects of your life, but you should at least try.
So how can you improve your life this year?
Set realistic goals
This needs to be done without reminders; you can’t expect to have a million dollars in your account when you are not doing anything to get there. It is easier to set a target of 5000 first and increase it as you go on.
Realistic goals can make you want to achieve them as they sound simple and easier, and it will eventually trickle down to your main big goal.
Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not get overwhelmed by what’s going on around us. It can help us reduce stress, enhance our performance, gain insight and awareness through observing our minds, and increase our attention to others’ well-being.
Imagine your life is being filmed into a documentary
This is another trick for your brain. What would you do if you knew everything was being filmed for a documentary that would be aired for everyone to see?
Having such a thought in your mind will help you focus on your goals and present yourself as the improved person you are trying to become.
Have a planner
I live by this as it works. When you know what you want to do for each day, you will most likely do it. You cant postpone tasks every day; you will eventually do it, especially when you are constantly reminded of the same in your planner.
You will notice the quality of your life improve drastically.
If you want different, do different.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
This changed my life because you may be doing the same things daily without results but still hoping for results that will never come. If you want your life to change, you have to change your habits, mindsets, or approach to your goals. Try something new; it may end up working for you.
I cannot stress this enough; there is no way your life will get better if you are not grateful for your current life. You don’t necessarily have to write it down, but the mere thought of saying it makes it heard by the heavens, universe, and God.
Spread positivity and kindness
I remember reading the book reality transurfing and being amazed that when you focus your energy on positivity, your life will eventually be filled with the same, and the opposite is true. He explained it so perfectly it puts your local spiritual guru to shame (jk)

Social media can be energy-draining and time-wasting. I always have one day a week where I stay off social media; sometimes, I even take weeks off, which helps me.
I advise you to do the same and see how your mental health reacts to it. This is one easy way to improve your life in 2021.
Learn something new daily to improve your life
Become an improved version of yourself means that you have to educate yourself daily. I am a daily learner type of person, and I have to say being well-learned feels so good and empowering. You could learn a new skill, watch a ted talk or listen to a podcast. Whatever you do, learn something new daily.

We become what we consume. Every podcast, video, movie, and social media post that we consume impacts our mental health. It could either improve the quality of your life or destroy you, so be careful.

- Lengthen attention span

Exercise of any sort will 100% improve your life in 2021. It doesn’t have to be an hour-long daily gym routine or workout class; this can be overwhelming. I like dancing as an exercise even though I am terrible at it.
I normally follow madfit dance on youtube, and it has helped me so far. Having such a habit is necessary to becoming a better version of yourself.
New years are the best time to incorporate new habits into your life. If you loved drawing as a kid, pick it up and try again; you will improve in it, and it will also bring joy into your life. Within no time, you will have improved your life.
Develop a routine
You don’t have to copy your favorite influencer’s morning routine to feel whole. Craft a routine for yourself throughout the day. For instance, I exercise every night at 8 pm after my evening classes and listen to podcasts on my way to work every morning.
Something as simple as this can improve your life for the better.
Do something interesting new daily.
I have to admit this is hard to do, but I tried it in January, and I felt like the main character in a high-budget movie. It could be anywhere from skinny dipping to talking to a stranger or even writing with your left hand. This will make life better.
